We believe the local church is the primary vehicle by which God expands His kingdom in the world today. The city of Seattle is desperate for Jesus and the change that he brings. This desperation can draw many well-meaning leaders to the city. Unfortunately, the city is not an easy place to plant or pastor a church. Many leaders get discouraged, burn out, or simply come ill-prepared and need to leave all too soon.
What if we could change that? We believe second to God’s power and presence, the strength of the church lies in the health of its leaders. The heart behind forming SLI is to bring together a coalition of churches and local leaders that are committed to training and raising up the future leaders of the church in Seattle.
We are committed to equipping and empowering leaders so that they can make a long-term impact. The church in Seattle has gained some hard-fought wisdom about how to not only survive but to thrive in a secular, post-Christian environment. In short, we want to take an intentional, collaborative approach to local leadership development, for the sake of the gospel, and for the sake of God’s kingdom in the city we love.
